Summary
  • This position is responsible for overseeing the physical environment of healthcare facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations. This includes managing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of equipment, systems, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance team, managing schedules, and ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and facilities. Develop and implement maintenance procedures, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and monitor budgetary limits. Troubleshoot issues, prioritize tasks, and ensure compliance with regulations. Coordinate with various departments to schedule work, communicate disruptions all to ensure a comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is vital in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services and will have Maintenance Tech's reporting to this position. This position will work closely with the St. Joseph Facilities and Construction teams and will be employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Train and supervise employees of the maintenance department.
  • Support the Director or Regional Team by implementing objectives and recommending improvements that support the mission and vision of the organization, particularly in regard to patient safety, quality and satisfaction. He or she will also participate in developing and maintaining staffing standards and guidelines; ensure needed staffing for shifts and operational processes.
  • Attends department meetings, promotes staff development, encourages teamwork.
  • Manage and maintain records for regulatory compliance of Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), EPA, OSHA and NFPA.
  • Directs 24-hour emergency on-call program. Supervises most after hour problems & repairs.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of preventive maintenance programs and provide updates on new equipment and technology. Ensures documentation is complete, accurate and maintained within the CMMS.
  • Procures parts and services for areas of responsibility. Assists Director with operating budget.
  • Responsible prioritization and scheduling of all routine and preventative maintenance work orders as it relates to the Building Systems. Scheduling and coordination with department leaders to ensure work is being done timely and with as little disruption as possible. This includes managing vendors and contractors to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair.
  • Performs administrative activities, including preparing special and periodic reports, financial data management, payroll records, work orders, inventory management, and other related tasks.
  • Stays abreast of new systems and methods in the Industry. Code and regulatory changes and Assists with continuing education/on-the-job training program.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. H.S. Diploma or GED or HiSET equivalent is required. An associate degree in business, Science or a related field, post-secondary vocation OR technical two-year school diploma OR master card in plumbing or electrical OR HVAC state contractor’s license OR NICET certification in industrial instrumentation and controls or bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering or equivalent is preferred.
  • A Valid and in State Driver's License is required. First Class Operating Engineer and EPA CFC License is preferred. Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) is preferred.
  • 5 Years Experience in commercial or industrial maintenance or related field, 5 Years Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and 3 Years Management or supervisory experience is required. Regulatory/Code/Life Safety or related experience and 1 year experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
