Job Description
Provide a safe aquatic experience through rule enforcement, accident prevention, and competency in lifesaving skills. This position is a seasonal, part-time, and non-exempt position.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 15 years of age. Must be able to pass the Lifeguard Skills Test.
The test includes:
*Information about date, time, and location will be provided to you once you complete the application.
*If 15 years of age by May 27th, 2024, you must provide a workers permit.
This position requires an Ellis Lifeguard license, which includes CPR, First Aid, and AED training. Morton Grove Park District will provide training and licenses. Prior lifeguarding experience is preferred, not mandatory.

Immediate Supervisor:
The Lifeguard directly reports to the Recreation Supervisor and pool Manager.
Essential Functions:
Psychological Considerations:
Lifeguards may need to resolve differences and problems that arise with patrons. The Lifeguard, Pool Manager/Assistant Manager, and Head Guard are responsible for a safe and well-organized operation. May also have to work under stressful conditions when rescue attempts are made.
Physiological Considerations:
Must have the ability to lift 45 lbs. May need to respond quickly to an emergency.
Environmental Considerations:
All activities are performed outside. These conditions include possible high temperatures, humidity, and exposure to sunlight for extended periods.
Cognitive Considerations:
Must possess good safety awareness and judgment. Must be friendly and like to work with people of all ages.
