MORROW SD 1 is Hiring a 7-12 Literacy Coach - Morrow County School District Near Lexington, OR

Morrow County School District is accepting applications for a 7-12 Literacy Coach. The position has a 40 additional days/stipend added to the contract.

Projected starting date: August 22, 2022.

EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: 5 years teaching experience, Language Arts preferred.

Education: Master’s Degree and/or extensive experience in Content, Instruction and

Assessment

Licensure Required: Hold valid Oregon license with 7-12 Endorsement

Position will remain open until filled.

JOB SUMMARY:

Work collaboratively with building and district administration to support 7-12 instruction, assessment and data. Engage in regular coaching cycles and data team meetings with teachers and administrators by modeling and providing professional development, interpretation of data, and design instruction that is responsive to data and student literacy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of: Common Core Claims, Targets and Standards and how to design rigorous aligned instruction. Interim assessment options and how to interpret and present data related to assessments. 

Skilled in: Developing data presentations and presenting to varied audience levels.  Ability to: Design instruction that addresses student needs based on interim and summative data.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support instructional staff and administration in the collection and interpretation of data and follow up with instruction design based on student needs.

2. In collaboration with district administration serve as an expert in the diagnostic assessments and provide trainings to all staff.

3. Support instructional staff with methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through practice, have proven to increase student achievement.

4. Model best instructional practices through classroom demonstrations or side-by-side coaching.

5. Meet regularly with classroom teachers, administration, and specialists, talk about student instructional needs and pacing, and plan for differentiated instruction based on ongoing assessment outcomes.

6. Willingness to engage in formative assessment processes, including non-evaluative, reflective conversations with teachers using evidence of classroom practice and student learning.

7. Willingness to collaborate with team members to create rigorous content for instruction.

8. Use of formative and summative assessment data to improve instruction and student performance.

9. Experience related to using technology as an everyday tool for teaching, learning and communicating.

10. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading high quality professional development for large groups of educators and administrators.

11. Develop supportive interpersonal relationships with teachers and educational support staff.

12. Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional growth.

Morrow County is located in rural north central Oregon, bordered on the north by the Columbia River and timbered by the Umatilla National Forest on the southern border. There are 9 campuses, approximately 2250 students and 300 staff.
