Summary: Performs cashiering duties including general food service work, and maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service, and dining room facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prep work including, washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
· Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator while maintaining all safety standards. Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
· Properly stores foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures.
· Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils. Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
· Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
· Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following outlined steps of service.
· Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service oriented manner. Relays relevant information to supervisor.
· Performs sales transactions in a reasonable and timely fashion. Carefully enters all sales into the cash register to ensure that all purchases are accurately recorded.
· Makes change, accepts declining balance cards, and other acceptable forms of payment, and issues receipts to customers. Follows standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
· Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards.
· Observe customer purchases in the cafe line and to differentiate between standard portions.
· Replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service areas.
· Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or 1 - 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications: Food Handler’s Permit as required by applicable state and county.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
