POSITION: Full-Time/ In-Person
LOCATION: Multnomah County
SALARY: $26.47/hr. - $27.67/hr.

Are you a parent in recovery? Do you have lived experience of addiction, recovery, and DHS child welfare involvement? Come support parents’ efforts to reunite with their children and find their path to recovery. Morrison Child & Family Services is seeking a female identifying person with shared lived experiences of addiction recovery and a closed DHS Child Welfare case.

Position Summary:

The Peer Supervisor supervises and coordinates the delivery of the Parent Mentor Program, based on expertise developed during 3 or more years of providing Certified Recovery Mentoring services.

This position provides staff supervision, coordination of program services and training activities, and provides some direct service to parents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the implementation of Parent Mentor Program and assures that the program is implemented consistent with stated goals, objectives and Morrison policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and support a team of Parent Mentors.
  • Provide occasional direct service to program clients as needed.
  • Conduct weekly, strength-based supervision with mentors. Supervision to include professional development personalized to each individual mentor.
  • Provide regular in-office support, skill development, encouragement and feedback to mentors
  • Develop knowledge and expertise related to the implementation of the Parent Mentor Program and the Family Mentoring Program.
  • Oversee and monitor quality of all recordkeeping and documentation of supervisees for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly outreach tracking sheet to prepare for invoicing for ODHS.
  • Prepare for monthly invoices for ODHS.
  • Assist Program Supervisor to prepare and compile assigned reports in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate weekly Parent Support Group in the community as needed.
  • Maintain positive, effective, collaborative relationships with ODHS staff and all community partners.
  • Communicate regularly with ODHS staff to facilitate referral development.
  • Coordinate weekly team meetings, including agendas, case assignment and referral tracking.
  • Attend weekly management meeting with program Management Team.
  • Participate in RAFT trainings for resource families occasionally.
  • Occasional statewide travel required, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Identify staff training needs and arrange trainings and consultation to address needs.
  • Represent PMP at community meetings with ODHS and other community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned to support all PMP teams & services.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices. 
  • Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to equity and inclusion in the workplace; model appropriate behaviors; develop, recommend, and implement improvements to business practices with awareness and understanding of the impact in a trauma-informed and culturally diverse organization.

Core Competencies:

  • Personal experience with Substance Use Disorder, SUD treatment, and the process of being in recovery
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Child Welfare system and Self Sufficiency programs
  • Knowledgeable about current trends and best practices related to Substance Use Disorder treatment and recovery support via active participation in peer professional networks, meetings, trainings and events
  • Position requires personal transportation allowing for regular travel to the Portland, Salem, and Beaverton metropolitan areas for meetings and trainings. If driving a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance, and a driving record permitting coverage under corporate auto liability policy.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens training is required on the first day of employment.
  • Must pass a criminal history check.
  • May work outside of normal business hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Demonstrates an ability to work with diverse populations in a variety of environments
  • Adheres and administers agency policies and procedures
  • Interprets information, utilizing critical thinking and explain concepts to others
  • Maintains positive relationships with internal and external partners
  • Adapts to continually changing circumstances while maintaining professionalism
  • Communicates professionally and effectively in English with clients and service providers both orally and in writing
  • Facilitates the development of good employee morale.
  • Attainment of team and professional development goals on a yearly basis.
  • Timely completion of documentation, program reports, and data submission.

Experience/Education Requirements :

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience providing peer-delivered services as a Certified Recovery Mentor
