Job Details

Purpose: The role of the Environmental and Regulatory Technician is to provide field services and environmental and regulatory consulting assistance to the Environmental and Regulatory Services group. This is an entry level Environmental and Regulatory Services position.

Work Schedule: Flex-schedule, Up to 9 hours per day; Monday through Friday; Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines, attend work related meetings, or project related travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Communications - Communicate with project management to assist with the coordination of project activities relative to the company’s scope of services. Communicating with Supervisors, or Peers- Providing information to supervisors, and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Communicating with key Project Personnel - Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures relative to Safety & Operations.
  • Task Management Determine and prioritize tasks for completion.
  • Coordination - Coordinate with Environmental and Regulatory Services staff on scheduling environmental fieldwork, preparing and submitting permit applications, and other regulatory consulting tasks.

Key Tasks:

  • Conducts environmental and regulatory permitting tasks.
  • Conduct field surveys under the supervision of the Environmental Professional or Project Manager (i.e. wetland delineations and threatened and endangered species surveys).
  • Prepare survey reports and statements of findings under the supervision of the Environmental Professional or Project Manager.
  • Provide professional opinions to project management under the supervision of the Environmental Professional or Project Manager.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Performing Administrative Activities - Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Travel to and from project areas and/or meetings.
  • Project reconnaissance and site visits.
  • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and inspections.

Work Conditions:

  • Work may occur outdoors, under varying environmental conditions.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Participation in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Frequent travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, crews, contractors, or off-site personnel/management and to conduct project reconnaissance and site reviews.
  • Continuous use of adaptive communication including keen listening skills.
  • Ability to concentrate and simultaneously adapt to changing priorities on a regular basis.

Environmental and Regulatory Technician works alternates between the office and field environment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be able to learn and understand new environmental and regulatory regulations.
  • Previous SWPPP and associated inspections experience a plus.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Flexible during times of change.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrate experience in personnel and task management.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel.
