Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

Finance is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. They prepare external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting Finance, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. Finance is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review.

Position Description

This is not a senior leadership role - 5 years of experience

Given the business growth and more complex environment, there has been heightened focus and demand for timely and insightful analysis and planning for Wealth Management net interest income (NII). A new centralized team was structured to help meet the demands, engage with broad stakeholders and enhance our infrastructure and processes more efficiently.

We are looking for a candidate to join the production controller team for non-bank products contributing to NII including securities lending and repurchase agreements. The candidate will also play role assisting the product owner to develop on-demand NII reporting and analysis and support for other control enhancement initiatives. The optimal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with at least 5 years of professional experience, including prior experience in product control, financial reporting or a similar role that has given them exposure to financial products and markets. The role requires flexibility and multi-tasking, with the ability to quickly pivot from priorities as needed.

Primary Responsibilities
- Drive daily, monthly, and quarterly P&L and balance sheet reporting to build knowledge and expertise across various non-bank wealth management products.
- Production of month-end general ledger close process and disclosure reporting.
- Partner with businesses and CFO teams to understand the impacts of various business activities.
- Assist in the design and development of internal management reporting for WM products contributing to NII.
- Operate in the overall execution and continued improvement of control frameworks.
- Assist with the design, implementation and execution of robust controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory rules.
- Assist product owner for NII reporting enhancement initiatives and aid in business requirements development with Technology.
- Drive and own ad-hoc projects & analysis as required.

Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree with Finance and/or Accounting experience required.
- 5 years post-college experience in financial services industry.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and assist with multiple projects, manage expectations and complete deliverables in a timely manner with exceptional attention to detail.
- Capable of summarizing complex accounting and/or reporting results
- Strong interpersonal collaboration and team skills including working with cross-functional teams proven flexibility, adaptability and reliability.
- Self-starter with exposure to project management skills and sound business judgment.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Expert level knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
