Morgan & Morgan, P.A. is Hiring an Orbit Controller Near Orlando, FL

Morgan & Morgan is seeking a Controller to join our dynamic team. As a leading law firm specializing in personal injury and consumer protection cases, we are committed to excellence in client service and operational efficiency. The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health of our Complex Litigation, Disability Advocates, Veteran Affairs, and other smaller divisions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of financial leadership, exceptional analytical skills, and a strong understanding of accounting principles within a professional services environment.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
    • Monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.

Accounting Operations:

    • Oversee day-to-day case accounting and financial reporting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of client/vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and client cost billings.
    • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

    • Conduct variance analysis and prepare detailed financial reports for management review.
    • Develop financial models, forecasts, and projections to support business planning and growth initiatives.
    • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and presentations for executive leadership.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Provide guidance and training on accounting principles, software tools, and best practices.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and optimize efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting and accounting best practices.
  • Net Suite experience is a plus
  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior-level Attorneys, Regional Controllers, the Corporate Director of Accounting, and the firm’s Chief Financial Officer
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team building, coaching, and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
