General Assignment Reporter
The Morgan County Citizen in Madison, Ga., is seeking a general assignment reporter.
The ideal candidate would possess a passion for writing, and would be committed to reporting on the issues of a small, but growing community with accuracy and fairness while telling the stories of its citizens. Recent college grads are OK to apply. This is considered an entry-level position.
Smaller newspapers allow a reporter to work on a variety of stories without getting trapped in a specific beat, covering crime, government, education, the arts, history and human interest features. An ability to cover local sports is a plus, but not a requirement.
Occasionally, some weekend and evening work may arise if the schedule dictates, but the position is meant to be a Monday through Friday assignment.
The Morgan County Citizen publishes in print weekly while delivering news daily via our website and e-Editions.
Madison (pop. 5,000) and Morgan County (pop. 21,000) offer renowned house museums, arts and cultural attractions and a historic downtown prime for exploring. Madison is conveniently located 60 miles from Atlanta and 30 miles from Athens and the University of Georgia.
The Morgan County Citizens is owned by Times-Journal, Inc, which publishes 18 newspapers and corresponding websites, all in Georgia.
