Morgan County Charter Schools is Hiring a High School Band Director Near Madison, GA

This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. Posting until filledCandidates must have or be eligible for certification in Music (P-12) issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Job Summary: The Band Director provides musical and/or auxiliary instruction for students and prepares them for performance as part of instruction. Supervises students at performances, rehearsals, and on trips.
Job Description & DutiesAbility to lead and/or teach team band classes in grades 6-12
Ability to select appropriate music for band classes in grades 6-12
Ability to work effectively with brass, percussion, and woodwinds 6-12
Ability to work full band or sectionals in marching band and/or concert band 6-12.
Ability to manage and assess students for grading purposes.
Knowledge of electronic sound system management for marching band rehearsal/performance.
A strong background in percussion is preferred but NOT required.
A strong background in both oral and written communication is EXPECTED!
Available for after-school rehearsals are expected and some performance events on Saturdays as needed.
Ability to effectively communicate with parents and stakeholders
Manage and organize equipment and music inventory
MUST BE A GMEA MEMBER.
Work Experience
  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • Experience with musical, dancing, or related instruction preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas and experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to implement instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners.
