The Seals and Bearings business of Morgan Advanced Materials makes high-performance self-lubricating bearing and seal components, predominantly used in pumps, industrial and domestic, or other sealing applications.

We use advanced carbon/graphite, silicon carbide, alumina and zirconia materials to engineer lightweight, low-friction bearings and seals. These materials help solve the problems associated with the use of lubricants in extreme temperatures, corrosive or hygienic environments where access is restricted, and are engineered into products which provide customer-specific solutions.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

Under general direction, ultimately accountable to lead the overall EHS Program for Seals & Bearings in Coudersport, PA. In conjunction with the PA Operations Manager and Senior Leadership team, this position is responsible to develop the 3 year EHS site plan outlining goals and objectives for continuous improvement and also responsible for monitoring the sites’ progress against these goals and objectives and modifying the strategy accordingly. This position will provide leadership, coaching, and auditing of the site. Responsibilities encompass all aspects of EHS risk and compliance (local, state, federal, and OSHA regulations), and to ensure all actions are conducted accurately, comprehensively and on a timely basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as the resident EHS expert for the Coudersport location by being current on regulatory and compliance issues and overall trends that may impact EHS matters and performance for the business.
  • Develops a 3-year plan for the EHS function that addresses compliance, risk, safety, and sustainable resource efficiency with specific goals and objectives identified.
  • Evaluates EHS strategy to develop annual site plans and objectives.
  • Monitors progress against EHS objectives and communicates progress regularly to site leadership and employee population.
  • Responsible for all aspects of compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and operating EHS management systems to achieve compliance with all local, state and federal requirements.
  • Responsible for both conducting EHS training and ensuring that EHS training is conducted and records are maintained in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and corporate requirements and company policies.
  • Communicates and helps administer Company Policies on Safety and Health.
  • Act as the thinkSAFE ambassador for site, driving thinkSAFE forward to achieve continuous improvement in the effectiveness of visible safety leadership activities.
  • Recommend and drive continuous improvement activities and implementation of engineering changes related to safety, ergonomics, employee health, environmental compliance, environmental performance, and reduction in the use of energy and water.
  • Follow all state and federal regulatory requirements applicable to Company permitting, reporting, monitoring, and recordkeeping for air emissions, sewer discharges, storm water runoff, chemical storage, waste management and community right-to-know.
  • Manage waste streams including hazardous, non-hazardous, non-hazardous, universal, residual and recycled.
  • Act as the site’s regulatory contact for the city, DEP and EPA.
  • Plays a significant role in the Audit Program: Coordinates and leads facility readiness for 3 year comprehensive compliance audits, and leads the facility through periodic self-audits.
  • Must be capable of traveling within the US, Canada and Mexico.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing EHS, engineering or technology fields. Must be familiar with OSHA and environmental regulations. Ideally the degree would be in a related field such as: Environmental Engineering or Management.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ideally the candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, PPT and Excel.
  • Must have good time management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in writing and verbally.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills for working in a team environment.
  • Individual must be a:

    • Citizen of the United States, or
    • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or
    • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
