Assistant Director Revenue Cycle

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle (with other leadership) will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Revenue Cycle (RC) departments, ensuring regulatory compliance requirements are maintained for RC departments, appropriate staffing, registration and billing functions, managing day to day activities of the departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

§ Has delegated administrative authority to carry out duties

§ Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

§ Oversees the daily workflow of the RC departments, Specifically Patient Access/Admissions/ Communications/ Patient Financial Services

§ Creates Process Flows, forms and improvements within the departments.

§ Ensures appropriate staffing in place and fills in as needed.

§ Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

§ Performs other related duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

§ Collaborates with Director to ensure responsibilities of RC departments are managed and functioning as needed.

§ Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, process changes, improvement, training and education for RC staff.

§ Process Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial plans, works all payer claims as needed, fills in as necessary to ensure seamless flow of department work.

§ Ensures staff have tools necessary to perform their duties and the knowledge to process accurate claims. Provides education and training on new rules and regulations as it pertains to billing/collections.

§ Ensure MGH claims billing function complies with Federal, State and Payer guidelines/requirements. Using this knowledge to build edits in claims processing system to assist billers with compliance. Understands Quadax and FISS systems.

§ With Supervisor and RC Director performs research on admitting/billing/collection issues brought forward from billing and develops plan/process and education for staff to follow.

§ Register/Admit patients in Medhost for every location and patient type. Uses this knowledge to provide process improvement ideas for the department and to fill in positions as needed. Finds ways to ensure accuracy and compliance and creates training documents.

§ Assists Director and Supervisor with educational opportunities for staff, promotes staff self-motivation for continued learning experiences. Finds opportunities for training and education for all RC departments.

§ Reviews and identifies patient flow issues and develops enhancements.

§ Works closely with vendors on improvement of use of technology and education.

§ Works closely with other hospital departments to meet the needs of other departments.

§ Works with Director and Supervisor on quality improvement projects to enhance the patient experience with RC departments.

§ Ensures staffing mix is appropriate and fills in open positions as needed.

§ Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; performs interview and hiring process, performs department education along with Director.

§ Ensure department technology is available and addresses issues when they arise.

§ Monitors department metrics for organizational compliance; productivity, quality and point of service collections.

§ Completes reports and submits to Director and CFO.

§ Monitors policies to ensure updates are timely and staff trained accordingly.

§ Works with Director to review monthly financial results and annual budget to make immediate changes to remain within budgetary requirements.

§ Performs other duties as required.

§ Thorough knowledge of Billing and Admission requirements

§ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

· At least 10 years of Billing and/or Registration experience required.

· At least 10 years in Hospital or Medical field, required.

Physical Requirements:

§ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

§ Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $27.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
