The Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science, Global Studies, and Legal Studies at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in History or Political Science. The anticipated start date is August 12, 2024. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement, and mentoring students.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. Additionally, Morehead State University is relatively close to a number of larger cities including Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, OH. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of History, Philosophy, Politics, Global Studies, and Legal Studies faculty advise several student organizations, such as the Model UN Club, Model EU Club, MSU Intelligence Club, Historical Society, and the International Student Association. Furthermore, faculty have led study abroad programs in China, Vietnam, Poland, Ukraine, France, Finland, and other destinations. Numerous faculty mentor undergraduate student research projects every year.

REQUIREMENTS: The Assistant Professor should possess a Ph.D. in History, Political Science, or International Relations, with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate credit in both History and Political Science. ABDs will be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference is given to those with the ability to teach courses on East Asia, Latin America or Africa, and/or the ability to teach courses in Security and Intelligence Studies. Teaching experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
