Program Coordinator – Clay

The Morean Center for Clay is one of 4 venues affiliated with the Morean Arts Center and our mission is to connect people with art. The Program Coordinator – Clay is a part-time (up to 29 hours a week) non-exempt, hourly position that supports the daily operations of the Morean Center for Clay relevant to Exhibitions, Workshops, and Educational Programming. The successful candidate is a dynamic and resourceful professional who plays a vital role in connecting the community and artists, and works with the Clay Operation Manager, the Guest Services Associate, and other Morean colleagues in this effort. The position requires excellent organization and communication skills to increase the impact and visibility of the Morean Center for Clay through community and interdepartmental collaborations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned including front desk coverage when necessary and assistance with School Tours.

Exhibitions:

· Organize, schedule, and execute (including installation and de-installation) a calendar of 10-15 juried, invitational, member, and artist in residence exhibitions each fiscal year for rotation in the 2 Center for Clay galleries.

· Ensure there is a 2-year running exhibit schedule for planning and funding purposes.

· Maintain a budget for needed exhibit supplies.

· Maintain website pages related to all current, past, and upcoming exhibitions on the website.

· Communicate with all exhibiting artists in a professional manner.

· Schedule shipping and receiving of artwork.

· Ensure Guest Services Associate – Clay is educated in current exhibits.

· Enter all inventory in Altru for sales.

· Provide CFO with artist information and documents for timely payment of art sales.

· Manage exhibition Calls for Entry through the Café portal.

· Photograph, document, and archive all exhibitions.

· Provide Morean Arts Center marketing with relevant photos, write-ups, and artist information at least 6-8 weeks prior to exhibition openings.

· Work with in-house clay studio members to assure their art displays are clean, labeled and updated.

· Attend Second Saturday Art Walks and exhibition openings.

· Schedule Artist Talks to complement exhibition openings.

· Assist with exhibition art sales as needed.

Workshops:

· Organize, schedule, and execute 5-10 workshops per year.

· Create budgets related to these workshops.

· Place orders for needed supplies related to workshops i.e., clay, tools, materials.

· Provide Morean marketing dept with photos, write-ups, and artist information at least 6-8 weeks prior to workshops.

· Post workshop information on Morean social media platforms

· Provide CFO with artist information and documentation for timely payment of services.

· Timely set-up and breakdown of workshops to ensure classrooms are ready for regularly scheduled functions.

· Communicate with teachers and members about workshop schedules.

Educational Programs:

· Organize and schedule ongoing clay Education Classes that occur over 7 sessions each year.
Communicate with clay teachers and resident artists about scheduled classes and related needs/requests.

· Gather information and post Education Classes on Altru and then “make live” on the Morean Arts Center website.

· Ensure teacher contract paperwork and background checks are up to date prior to classes occurring.

· Supply the Morean marketing team with the necessary information for advertising and promoting classes at least 3-4 weeks prior to each session.

· Post class information on Morean social media platforms

· Assist with organizing and executing Morean Summer Youth Clay Camps

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university required. Master’s degree preferred.

· Candidates should have intermediate to advanced computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and WordPress

· Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate the Morean Center for Clay’s needs.

· Must be well organized and proficient in multi-tasking.

· Should be comfortable using basic power/hand tools, climbing a ladder, handling artwork, and lifting moderate to heavy objects (25lb /-).

· The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills, teaching, and mentoring experience, and be familiar with the current state/concepts of contemporary ceramics.
