Moravian Academy is Hiring an Upper School Mathematics Teacher Near Bethlehem, PA

Moravian Academy seeks an engaging, experienced, and innovative full-time math teacher for
the 2024-25 school year at the Upper School on the Merle-Smith Campus.

Essential Functions:
Design and deliver at least four courses within the curricular sequence of Algebra 1

through Linear Algebra, with the ability in particular to teach precalculus and calculus.
Experience teaching AP Calculus preferred.

  • Support and further enhance the department’s high expectations for academic
performance, intellectual inquiry, and personal growth for all students in each course;
  • Facilitate hands on exploration, student collaboration, and problem solving; integrate
student-centered pedagogical practices into the curriculum;
  • Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular
communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
  • Assess and provide feedback to students and parents during comment and grading
periods.
  • Assume duties including, but not limited to, serving as an advisor or co-advisor to a small
group of students and taking on a fifth responsibility that benefits the student experience.
  • Participate in professional collaboration and development, including committee work,
chapel services, department meetings, and divisional faculty meetings.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a math-related field; Master’s degree strongly

preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a previous background in independent
schools or similar college-preparatory programs.
  • Proficiency in digital educational technologies.
  • Experience with Google Workspace for Education (preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for professional development.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Uses student-centered teaching methodologies and other research-based practices;
  • Confident and comfortable collaborating with department colleagues, particularly with
designing engaging lesson plans and refining and aligning curriculum;
  • Energetic, engaging, and creative with a clear love of students and the learning process;
  • Engages in the community life of the school, including attending various co-curricular
events;
  • A lifelong learner who is committed to professional development and collaboration with

other professionals and organizations.

Moravian Academy, located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is a PK through 12th grade
coeducational college preparatory school and the ninth oldest independent school in the United
States. Founded in 1742, Moravian Academy continues to be a school in motion. After a recent
merger with The Swain School, Moravian Academy comprises 900 students and 200
employees. The extensive facilities are located on three campuses which together are the
premier choice for independent education in the Lehigh Valley region. Each campus possesses
