KIDS RECREATION COUNSELOR – SUMMER SEASON June 3 to September 30, 2023

The Kids Recreation Counselor, creates and facilitate summer camp activities for all kids participating in Camp Moonlight, Moonlight Mini-Camp, Yurt Camp Outs and other family events. Counselors will be part of a community focused program providing place-based learning in Montana's fun and mountainous area

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Independently lead and team teach activities focused on environmental education and outdoor recreation in day camp settings to kids in various programs, spanning ages 3-14.
• Design and implement lessons and games to around the Rocky Mountain ecosystems using provided resources.
• Interest and/or experience with ecology, biology, STEM, paddling, archery, high ropes courses, and camping a plus.
• Attend one night overnight on-property camp outs with kids as they fall on the program calendar.
• Responsible for safety and security of all kids participating in programs.
• Responsible for daily setup and clean-up of programs.
• Attend all required and necessary staff trainings and professional development events.
• Maintain relationships and communication with families, coworkers, and management staff.

KEYS TO SUCCESS:

• Background in informal or experiential learning, summer camp, or outdoor recreation.
• Undergraduate degree preferred, in processing of earning, or combination of experience and education.
• Enthusiasm for working with kids ages 3-14.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Current CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain prior to start date. Wilderness First Aid preferred.
• Available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Commit to working the full summer season from June to the end of August. Training begins in early June.
• Can handle unexpected behavioral or emergency situations during camp hours with aid of management.
• Maintains a personable and professional attitude while interacting with all campers and parents/guardians.
• Knowledge of Montana and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and integrates in weekly themed camps and events for kids
