Moody Neuro Rehabilitation Institute is Hiring a RN Manager Rehab Near Houston, TX

The Nurse Manager is a patient care provider. The primary role is ensuring patient care needs are met in accordance with Physician instructions and administrative procedures. This will be accomplished by maintaining the nursing schedules; assigning nursing duties, monitoring nurse services for quality and compliance; and coordination of orientation, training, and education along the continuum of the nursing functions across Moody locations to Nursing and direct care staff. In addition to fulfilling the duties of a RN as needed; this position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies in the nursing and direct care programs as well as making sure these teams have the resources, skills, and tools needed to follow best practices and provide safe and effective care to the patients at Moody. This position will work closely with the CCO, Nurse Educator, Program Directors, Quality Improvement and Compliance Specialist and Clinical Operations Manager for program and policy development and service delivery models. The Nurse Manager will also work closely with Business Development to support Moody’s Mission of being an industry expert in brain injury by developing and providing education to the community. This position will also support research and publication relationships between Moody and the industry.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage activities of nursing to ensure safety, compliance, and high-quality nursing care; represent Moody as the industry expert in brain injury to the community.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating with CCO for policy development to ensure regulatory compliance through practice and documentation.
  • Responsible for coordinating nursing schedules in conjunction with Program Directors.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and motivation of qualified nursing staff in coordination with Nurse Educator.
  • Responsible for evaluating and monitoring nurse performance through audits and training.
  • Identifies problem areas in the nursing unit, such as understaffing, absenteeism, and wastefulness, and takes corrective action.
  • Engages in studies and investigations related to improving nursing care and systems.
  • Assists in development and monitoring of nursing supplies and budgets at each location.
  • Resource for patient and family education in conjunction with nursing, clinical and direct care staff.
  • Function as a liaison between Medical Directors, Business Development, and the Program Directors to ensure Moody can meet the medical needs of the patients.
  • Coordinates with Nursing Educator, Residential and Clinical Managers for orientation and ongoing training and education needs provided by nursing department.
  • Assist with development and presentation of education for community outreach such as CEU activities and brain injury awareness activities.
  • Coordinate with CCO for program development; helping identify appropriate equipment and ensuring appropriate staff education to be able to meet the needs of the populations served.
  • Assist in research efforts both of Moody employees and affiliates.
  • Assume RN responsibilities as needed, primarily at Houston and Galveston locations.
  • Assist with RN responsibilities in Lubbock location as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Degree as an RN required.

Experience:

  • RN training and education of staff experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish beneficial.
  • Management experience preferred.

    • Accommodation - adjustment of the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from the eye.
    • Color vision - the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
