JOB SUMMARY:

The Palm Beach Cashier conducts transactions after guest have placed their order. This position may also take customer orders in person. This position serves as the last point of contact with guests; the position requires a friendly personality with a calm disposition.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Must maintain a Guest focus while performing duties
• Assumes 100% responsibility for quality guest
• Welcome and greet guests within 20 seconds with a friendly polite smile
• At the beginning of shift count the register bank and document and/or report any discrepancies; make sure cashier station is set up for the day with enough tickets and take out tray and/or bags, etc.; clean and wipe down all counter areas and register
• At closing cashier station needs to be cleaned, organized and restocked for the next day; separate employee checks, discounts, comp checks and voids
• Collect all forms of credit as it pertains to payment of bills
• Be observant in your areas and notify Manager or Supervisor of any potential problems when you first observe them
• Notify manager or supervisor when guest is not 100% satisfied
• Be ready and willing to assist in all areas before being asked
• Thank all guests for their visit and invite them to return
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
• Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior Customer Service and cash handling experience preferred
• Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must be reliable and responsible
• Knowledge of Galveston County Health Department rules and regulations
• Ability to work a cash register and all processes of payment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to perform tasks that include bending and stretching
• Ability to handle loud noises, large crowds, and potentially upset guests
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment that is often stressful
• Ability to lift, balance, and carry trays of up to 20 pounds regularly through shift
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet and perform job duties in hot, humid weather
