General:The Technologist is responsible for performing quality imaging through the application of advanced technical knowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care. The Technologist works in the MRI/CT department performing physician requested MRI/CT images. General requirements are to work with positive patient interaction, excellent communication skills, and positive energy. The Technologist must be able to multi-task and problem solve, possess excellent customer service skills, and be willing to go above and beyond to take care of the customers needs. This position will be primarily MRI with the option to cross-train with CT.

Specifics: The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position. Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts. Experience with GE and Philips CT scanners and able to fully operate these machines without hesitation. Prepares treatment areas for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Operates Imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images as ordered by physicians in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Explains procedure and positions to patients. Takes patient medical history before an exam. Positions patients so desired anatomy will be imaged for CT, and position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Starts I.V.s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol. Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration. Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance. Reviews and evaluates video monitor to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Evaluate MR and CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately. Performs a variety of clerical procedures involved in the processing of patients and medical records, including scheduling patients for procedures, and maintains accurate patient records. May file and retrieve files and reports as needed and/or requested. Burns MRI CDs as needed. Procures patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential; assumes responsibility for safety, mental and physical comfort of patients. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in organizations. Maintain ACR accreditation/ radiation safety protocols. Enhances imaging department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Assists radiologists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques. Any additional tasks requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited program in Radiological Technology. ARRT (RT) (MRI) (CT) required. BLS certification required.

2-3 years MRI experience preferred.

Possess a level of clinical expertise and competency in cross sectional anatomy. Good Interpersonal Skills.

Must have the ability to handle critical care situations which can create a high level of stress
