Supervisor, Community Schools
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under direction of Director, Student Engagement, Behavioral Health, and Academics in the Office of Well-Being, Learning, and Achievement, supervises and provides leadership for all aspects of developing, monitoring, and implementing the Community Schools program in the designated schools and communicating with appropriate stakeholders. Assists with the administrative management of the guidelines, budget, and reports for Community Schools in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Keeps abreast of national and state trends in Community Schools to obtain information for essential program improvements. Maintains a deep understanding of and articulates the program to staff and community. Collaborates with school-based leaders, school-based staff, and central office staff to ensure a high-quality program in alignment with the Community Schools model, as developed by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and MCPS, and related goals and strategies. Works with the department director to develop memos, presentations, and other products. Works with MSDE and other Maryland local educational agencies to share effective best practices for program implementation. Leads professional development, training and outreach activities related to Community Schools. Monitors and oversees budget and grant funds for the program. Supervises and evaluates central office-based staff in the department.
CERTIFICATE LICENSE:
Holds a current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in Administrator I.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of MSDE/MCPS policies and regulations and strategic priorities related to Community Schools or the ability to obtain and apply knowledge quickly. Knowledge of the Blueprint for Maryland¿s Future. Must be culturally proficient and have a thorough understanding of cultural relevance of curriculum and anti-racist methodology, initiatives, and best practices in program implementation. Outstanding project management, problem-solving and communication skills; ability to develop and implement initiatives in a large organization. Must be proficient in data collection, analysis, reporting, and use of data software, programs, Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite, and other related technology. Ability to plan, manage, and evaluate district level budgets. Ability to articulate the office and department goals and objectives; ability to assess department efforts to ensure that they align with the MCPS strategic priorities.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university required with coursework in education, social work, public policy, human services or related social sciences preferred. Three years or more leadership experience in community outreach and organizing preferred. Documented experience with program development and implementation, preferably within a non-profit, school, or community organization. Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders in settings related to physical, social, and psychological well-being. Demonstrated leadership experience developing, implementing community programming and conducting training and/or professional development in K-12 educational system or community-based program. Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, coaching, and nurturing school and/or community stakeholders. Experience with grant writing, contracts, and budgeting. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
