05/30/2024 A vacancy exists for a School Career Counselor to work at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit within the Office of Student Services! The School Counselor will support the youth by providing individual and group sessions with a focus on career readiness, workforce readiness skills, consultation services, and training at the MCIU's South East Youth Development Center, located at 1200 Mokychic Rd. Collegeville, PA 19426, on the grounds of the SCI Phoenix Correctional Facility.
Qualifications:

• Valid PA Certification in School Counseling PK-12 required
• Valid PA licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred
• Knowledge of Act 339 planning and implementation and Act 158 graduation requirements required
• Experience with secondary school population preferred
• Experience working in a residential facility for youth and young adults preferred
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required.
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire).

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and counseling services to students, specifically in the areas of career readiness and developing workforce readiness skills
• Program includes personal, academic, career development, counseling and consultation services to students, teachers, and school administration.
• Provide individual and group sessions with a focus on career readiness, workforce development skills, consultation services, and training.
• Prepare comprehensive education plans for individual students based on transcripts and desired goals and outcomes of student.
• Monitor educational plans for students and provide support and guidance as needed to assist students to meet their goals and desired outcomes.

Location:
The MCIU's South East Youth Development Center is located at 1200 Mokychic Rd., Collegeville, PA 19426, on the grounds of the SCI Phoenix Correctional Facility.
Work Schedule:
7.5 hours/day, 11 months (194 days/year)
This position follows a modified 11 month schedule which includes some Fridays off during the school year.

2024-2025 Salary:
Bachelor’s, Step 1: $52,572/year
Master’s, Step 1: $63,582/year
Master's 30, Step 1: $70,570/year
*Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master’s Degree.
