Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. **A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this position exists is to monitor and care for the needs ofdetainees in secure custody at the Montgomery County Youth Facility. TheMontgomery County Youth Facility is a controlled security facility. The workresponsibilities of the position are: monitors detainees in all dailyactivities, events, school and their assigned duties; oversees detainees inperforming daily housekeeping duties; documents all daily activities andmovements of detainees; processes new detainees for detention; and contributesto department objectives. Employees receive direct supervision from the shiftsupervisor, and general supervision from a Compliance Officer, the AssistantDetention Director, or the Detention Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Highschool diploma or G.E.D. and one of year experience working directly withdetainees or youth in an institutional setting, organized recreational program,or the juvenile justice field OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences such asCriminal Justice, Justice and Public Safety, Human Services, Social Work, or a closely-relatedfield.��� Note:� Qualifying educations, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Employmentis conditional upon applicants acquiring and maintaining an Alabama Driver'sLicense and providing a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from the Department ofPublic Safety as proof of an insurable driving record and passing a PhysicalAgility Test.

Kind of Examination
