Utility Service Person

Salary : $23.08 Step 1) per hour Posting Date : January 06, 2024

Benefits : CalPERS Retirement, 125 Cafeteria Plan offering, AFLAC

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, Utility Service Person performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in servicing and cleaning

buses, MST vehicles and related equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cleans interior and exterior of MST vehicles by washing and steam cleaning, using a variety of solvents, soaps, and

cleaning chemicals; Checks general condition of buses and other MST vehicles to detect and report defects, such as tires,

defective lights, body damage, interior damage, and operating defects, fluid leaks, battery odor, defective running gear;

i.e., engines, transmissions, and other problems as may be directed in work instructions; Checks and replenishes

consumables; Checks quantity of and dispenses fuel, lubricants, coolant, and water; Posts, adds, and subtracts the

amounts of commodities and consumables used; Moves MST vehicles, buses, and equipment around yard for fueling and

related servicing; may exchange coaches or other MST vehicles in the field as directed; Removes debris, garbage, lost

exterior and interior ad-signs, car cards, MST announcements, and other printed materials; Performs related duties as

required.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY

Ability to perform physical labor; follow written and oral instructions; ability and knowledge of simple math; ability to learn

and operate MST vehicles in a safe manner; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations with those

contacted in the course of business; and ability to work under established deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education / Work Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related

experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be available to work weekends,

holidays, and unusual hours; Clean driving record; licensed driver for 3 years; Possession of a valid California Class C

driver's license. If hired, must pass a post offer pre-employment drug screening and show proof of COVID vaccination; In

accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, must be prepared to offer documents to support

employment eligibility and option to join Local 1225 of Amalgamated Transit Union. This position may be assigned to work

out of our three operating divisions in : Monterey, Salinas, or King City.
