Pay rate: $48- $50 per hour

Prepares a variety of specimens for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist using a variety of histological techniques.Preparation includes but is not limited to imbedding, cutting and staining.Assumes day-to-day responsibility for the operations of the histology and cytology department across all locations.Creates work schedule and adjusts schedule to ensure smooth workflow.Conducts annual evaluation of histology technical staff.Pursuant to established and approved protocols of the department of health, performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by a clinical laboratory, including maintaining equipment and records, and performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance and which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, as determined by the department.

Education/Training:

• Education/Training: AAS in laboratory science or equivalent recent on-the-job experience or training.Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Experience: Three years full time experience as a Technician, Histology required.Computer experience preferred.
• Licensure, Registration or Certification: NYS Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory histology technician, histology technologist, lab technician, or lab technologist. HTL(ASCP) certification or HT(ASCP) preferred.
