Monona Grove School District Overview:
The Monona Grove School District is seeking a qualified New Teacher Mentor beginning with the 2024-25 school year. The New Teacher Mentor will form partnerships with new teachers and assist them with curriculum, classroom management, instructional strategies, assessment and all aspects of their professional development. For this posting, a teacher with elementary teaching experience is preferred. This position reports to the Director of Instruction.
The New Teacher Mentor will be released from a classroom assignment for a period of four to six years to serve in this role. At the conclusion of this time period the Mentor will return to a teaching assignment for which they are appropriately licensed.
Responsibilities:

• Observe new teachers regularly and provide feedback to guide action planning.
• Assist new teachers to align their practice with MGSD Equity Non-Negotiables.
• Assist new teachers to support all learners through co-planning to co-serve with teams of teachers in inclusive classroom settings.
• Support new teachers with Educator Effectiveness.
• Use New Teacher Project mentoring tools based on the ten DPI Teacher Standards to reflect with new teachers and improve teaching practice
• Attend trainings offered through the Dane County New Teacher Project.
• Facilitate Monona Grove New Teacher Project meetings as necessary.
• Provide professional development for new and veteran staff members.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Instruction.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with excellent performance in the Wisconsin Teacher Standards as evidenced by exemplary performance evaluations.
• Monona Grove School District Teacher (minimum 3 years preferred).
• Communicates effectively with adult learners.
• Develops respectful and confidential relationships.
• Training and experience and in New Teacher Project Instructional Mentoring, peer coaching, and district initiatives preferred.
