    07/01/2024 Monona Grove School District has an opening for a 1.0 FTE Assistant Superintendent of Business, Operations and Human Resources. Position is expected to begin on July 1, 2024.
    Overview:
    Assistant Superintendent of Business, Operations, and Human Resources plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the Monona Grove School District fulfills its mission: To be a safe, equitable, and inclusive learning community for everyone. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, this position entails overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of business and auxiliary services, as well as human resources. The incumbent will be responsible for strategic financial planning, budget management, internal controls, personnel supervision, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. As a key leader, the Assistant Superintendent will actively contribute to fostering a culture of safety, equity, and inclusivity within the district, embodying its core values in all aspects of their work.
    The Assistant Superintendent will supervise various aspects including financial accounting, budget development, payroll administration, procurement, facilities management, sustainability initiatives, staff training, and program coordination. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the Director of Human Resources for functions such as recruitment and retention, employee relations, negotiations, leave management, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws. Assistant Superintendent will also provide supervision, oversight and guidance to the Director of Building and Grounds and Safety Coordinator to maintain the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of school facilities, Director of School Nutrition to promote healthy eating habits and manage meal programs that meet nutritional standards and serve the needs of students and staff, and Director of Aquatics to ensure the effective management and operation of aquatic facilities, programs, and safety protocols.
    Responsibilities:
    • Supervise financial accounting functions including, budget preparation, monitoring and reporting.
    • Establish and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard district assets.
    • Develop budget processes and controls to allocate resources effectively.
    • Supervise payroll administration in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Oversee procurement processes and bid preparation.
    • Hire, supervise, and evaluate personnel within Business Services.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders on school facility planning.
    • Supervise the management of buildings and grounds, human resources, school nutrition, safety, and aquatics program.
    • Direct school transportation operations and insurance programs.
    • Collect and manage district revenue, investments, and debt.
    • Coordinate enrollment forecasting and nonresident student programs.
    • Administrative liaison to the Board of Education Personnel Committee
    • In the absence of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent of Business, Operations, and Human Resources assumes the role of the administrator in charge within the district.
    • Attend Board of Education meetings and committee meetings.
    • Participate in Administrative Team meetings.
    • Represent the District in collective bargaining.
    • Perform other related duties as directed by the Superintendent.
    Qualifications:
    Experience and Training:
    • Valid Wisconsin School Business Administrator License.
    • Masters of Business Administration preferred; Baccalaureate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
    • 5-10 years of significant business, auxiliary services, and HR experience required.
    • Knowledge of accounting principles, auditing, and HR practices
    • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of principles of accounting and auditing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and public.
    • Ability to effectively supervise the work of others.
    License Requirement:
    • School Business Administrator License (5008)
