Sign on bonus $10,000 FT & $5,000 PTPosition SummaryThe RN Respiratory Nurse provides respiratory care to residents through assessment, intervention, and education within the scope of professional license. The RN respiratory nurse adheres to the standards of care to maintain resident safety and to attain the ultimate goal of achieving and maintaining the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. Essential Responsibilities And Duties
Systematically collects data regarding residents through interview of resident and family, observation,
discussion with physician and review of medicalrecords.
Assesses residents and applies knowledge to facilitate the best therapeutic plan of care, making
recommendations as needed.
Assists and is knowledgeable in the development and revision of care plan using the RAI process in
collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Monitors any change in resident condition and revises the plan of care to reflect the current resident
status.
Assists and complete assessments as delegated.
Has Knowledge of and Consistently Follows Standards of Documentation and Written Communication
Reviews respiratory orders and provides recommendations as needed
Is knowledgeable in the procedure to facilitate physician orders and completes procedures including, but
not limited to administering oxygen and humidity and administering respiratory medications.
Performs suctioning of various methods (tracheal, oropharyngeal, nasotracheal).
Performs tracheostomy care and evaluates trach stoma for skin breakdown, infection, or wounds
Performs tracheostomy tube changes including routine, downsizing and emergent
Provides report to direct reports, verbally
Accompanies tracheostomy resident to appointments as needed
Administers and evaluates non-invasive ventilation (Bipap or Trilogy), or CPAP and makes
recommendations based on response and compliance
Orders, sets up, stocks, and arranges return of respiratory equipment needed for resident care
Provides education regarding tracheostomy care
Assists with N95 fit testing requirements of staff
Attends care conferences for residents with respiratory needs as able
Performs other duties as assigned.

Displays and promotes a strong culture of customer service, ensuring a resident-centered experience
Provides and ensures nursing activities are practiced in accordance with the Minnesota BON standards
while protesting residents’ dignity, privacy, and autonomous decision-making whenever possible
Provides the highest quality care to all residents, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation,
religion, age, or differences in culture
Recognizes limits of knowledge, skill, and experience; facilitates situations beyond the RN’s competency
Confronts, corrects, and explains unprofessional behavior to direct reports as well as completes the
appropriate documentation. FACILITY COMPLIANCE
Provides Rehabilitation Center with current license and keepsupdated.
Attends continuing education, in-service training, and e-learning pertinent to your department and as
designated by Supervisor and or HousingDirector.
Attends meetings as directed to include department director meetings, Quality Assurance meetings, etc.
Promotes a highly positive workplace centered on strong customer service, inclusivity and ensuring staff
feel welcome and supported
Attends all staff education of the Rehabilitation Center relating to safety, infectioncontrol and disease
process.
Attends educational programs on Continuous Quality Improvement, customer satisfaction and other such
programs as designated. Participates in inspections and audits as designated.
Maintains current knowledge of Minnesota Department of Health regulations.
Identifies opportunities for improvement through completion and documentation of delegated audits and
surveys. Communicates these to the Interdisciplinary Team. QualificationsEducation and Experience
Must have current RN Licensure in the State of Minnesota.
Must have successfully completed health care provider training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and
Emergency Care.
Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing when directing the care of residents.
Must be able to perform essential functions of the position withor without reasonable
accommodation.
Must qualify for employment, after criminal background study, per guidelines of Minnesota
Department of Human Services Preferred
Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community specifically with
respiratory patients including tracheostomy, vents and other respiratory diagnosis and equipment.
Bachelor’s degree in professional nursing
