JOB TITLE: 3K Lead Teacher (3 year olds)

REPORTS TO: Momentum Early Learning Director

SUMMARY: The Little Scholars teacher will teach our 3 year olds, using Momentum’s set curriculum, which emphasizes Kindergarten readiness. The teacher is responsible for teaching and providing care for children; math, literacy, science, the arts, physical development, social emotional development, and self-help skills. The teacher in this program is compliant with all state and federal requirements and always represents the center in a positive and professional manner. One must perform all responsibilities according to operational procedures, policies and curriculum as part of the Momentum Early Learning Culture.

MOMENTUM EARLY LEARNING CULTURE:

Momentum Early Learning partners with parents and guardians to provide an enjoyable learning environment focused on integrated learning and creative play. Through thoughtful and structured lessons, teachers will lead our children through a world of adventure and creative play. Our mission is to provide a secure and safe environment where parents and guardians are welcome to share in their child’s day at any time via secured webcam or in-person visit. Our teachers are experienced and nurturing caregivers who encourage interactive and imaginative play, while expanding the experiences and knowledge of our children.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.) Preschool Specific Essential Functions:

  • Adapt curriculum to meet individual goals for children as identified in their individual lesson plans.
  • Develop and utilize curriculum plans to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child.
  • Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.
  • Establish weekly goals that promote individual and group educational plans and include other NAC/YoungStar and Momentum content areas.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting requirements for child portfolios.
  • Monitors children in a variety of educational environments (ex. Classroom, playground, field trips, rest time, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Models conversation, manners, clean-up activities, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior
  • Facilitates a positive learning environment for the purpose of improving the children’s academic success and transition to elementary school.

2.) Child Care:

  • Assures that all children receive proper personal care and attention to their toileting, clothing and health needs.
  • Maintains a respectful, warm, engaging learning environment, encouraging curiosity and discovery.

3.) Safety, Security and Cleanliness:

  • Proactively identifies and resolves potential safety and health hazards in the early learning center and creates a safe and healthy environment for children of all ages.
  • Reports any suspected abuse to the Director in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a very clean environment practicing all policies and procedures.

4.) Operations

  • Maintains records on each child including but not limited to: daily observations, daily activities, snacks/meals, medications administered and attendance/time sheets.
  • Ensures that standard operating procedures for the center are followed and positively reinforced to others on the child care team.
  • Reports to the Director any damaged or lost materials.

5.) Guest Experience & Satisfaction:

  • Engages parents/guardians through open verbal and written communication.
  • Proactively and professionally addresses and resolves parental concerns, keeping the Director informed of the issue and resolution. Escalates critical issues to the Director for resolution as needed.

6.) Leadership:

  • Actively contributes new creative ideas to grow and improve the learning center.
  • Maintains a productive, positive, dynamic, engaging and fun working environment through a positive and fun-loving demeanor.
  • Directs assistant and floater teachers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom that addresses individual child requirements.
  • Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families, to include respect for culture, diversity and ethnicity.
  • Uphold the core values of Momentum Early Learning: Education, Security, Technology, and Cleanliness.

7.) Additional Duties:

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Four year degree in Early Childhood Education preferred; at the least, an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Shaken Baby Training
  • SIDS Training
  • Completion of Early Childhood I, II, and Infant/Toddler.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (current)
  • Must meet annual continuing education requirements.

Experience:

  • Prefer 3 years experience in the child care field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Health Exam within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to perform physical labor such as but not limited to: repeated lifting (up to 40 pounds), bending and squatting.
