Position: Case Supervisor

Reports to: BCBA

Positions Supervised: RBT

Job Summary:

The Case Supervisor is an experienced Behavior Technician with advanced knowledge, strong clinical skills, strong multi-tasking capability and demonstrated ability and interest in supporting their peers’ professional development. As a Case Supervisor he/she is responsible for fulfilling all the responsibilities of a Behavior Technician plus the additional responsibilities related to supporting less experienced Behavior Technicians both as new hires and in the form of ongoing learning. While reporting to their BCBAs they will also work closely with the professional development team in identifying and addressing the training needs of the Behavior Technicians.

Clinical Skills and Responsibilities

  • Designs and provides support for individualized programs for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders or other developmental disabilities, ages 6 months and older, in natural settings.
  • Schedules regular home visits (once a week or once every other week) with caregivers to review program effectiveness, make observations, collect data, chart progress and provide parent coaching.
  • Coordinates visits to overlap with members of the direct care team to observe sessions and provide coaching and clinical support in all settings where treatment is provided.
  • Knowledge and ability to demonstrate skills in applied behavior analysis, relationship building concepts and a solid understanding of typical development as well as other related interventions used to support individuals on the Autism Spectrum and their families.
  • Demonstrates exceptional relational skills with co-workers and excels at coaching/providing effective feedback.
  • Demonstrates strengths in their ability to teach adults one on one and in small and medium sized groups.
  • Demonstrates cultural humility and the ability to develop trusting, collaborative relationships with diverse children, families and caregivers
  • Understands the role of Behavior Technician and the demands it entails

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide Behavior Technicians with “hands-on” training/coaching (e.g. observation, feedback, modeling, guidance, and support).
  • Assist in providing professional development opportunities for ongoing/new staff at the Behavior Technician level including recording/sharing videotaped clips from treatment sessions and assisting the professional development team with small group trainings
  • Provide feedback to new hires and the professional development team regarding the new Behavior Technician’s progress toward knowledge and skill acquisition through verbal and written means as requested by the professional development team.
  • Participate actively in reflective practice sessions
  • Maintain close communication and collaboration with professional development team

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for meeting productivity requirements set forth in the annual budget and for providing efficient and effective service in all areas of performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of billable tasks that meets the requirements of regulatory agencies and funding sources, and is HIPAA compliant.
  • Track direct and indirect client sessions to ensure that services are provided to the full extent of the authorization for each client.

Minimum Education or Training Equivalent to:

  • BCaBA, Master’s degree, or is working on a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines is required: applied behavior analysis, early childhood education/development, early childhood special education, special education, pediatric therapy, psychology or related field.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst or license/certificate in early childhood special education strongly preferred.
  • Candidates who have been in the field of ABA for a significant amount of time with extensive experience (e.g. 5 years) may be considered

Minimum Years of Additional Related Experience:

  • Two years of related professional experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders (“ASD”) and/or other related developmental disabilities in a multi-disciplinary team setting.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in leading behavioral and developmental methodologies found to benefit children with autism spectrum disorders, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (“ABA”), Early Start Denver Model (“ESDM”), PEAK, Essential to Living (“EFL”), VB-MAPP, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (“ACT”), Pivotal Response Training (“PRT”), and “SCERTS”.
  • Familiar with the field of autism intervention, and knowledgeable of other community resources and agencies that serve children.
  • Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Able to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment.
  • Able to appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Able to obtain criminal record clearance through Department of Justice.
  • Able to obtain CPR certificate.
  • Able to travel to multiple work sites; reliable transportation required (proof of valid driver license, current auto insurance identification card, and acceptable driving record per NIAC standards is required).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting;
  • Intermittent walking, standing, bending, stooping , kneeling;
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.;
  • Ability to produce written reports;
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills;
  • Work may be stressful and require quick problem analysis and decision making;
  • Need to be able to remain calm, focused and customer-oriented during stressful events;
  • Ability to utilize computer, typewriter, fax, telephone and copy machine.
  • Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
