Momentum Academy STL is Hiring a 24-25 Pre-Kindergarten Coordinator Near St. Louis, MO

Company Overview:

Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with four campuses in St. Louis City, serving scholars in grades PK-8. Momentum promotes academic excellence in an environment of mutual care and support that builds character, confidence, and community among each of our scholars so that they reach their full potential.

Role:

The Pre-Kindergarten Coordinator will be responsible for developing and overseeing pre-kindergarten programming for children and families in their community. The primary focus of this position is to ensure safe, creative and culturally relevant programming to help meet the diverse needs of young children and their families.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader who has knowledge of early childhood education and is able to lead with compassion, enthusiasm and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. Primary duties will include developing curriculum, instructing and leading classes, supervising staff, collaborating with families and community partners, and advocating for children and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement pre-kindergarten programming and curricular activities designed to meet the needs of children and their families.
  • Plan and schedule regular program activities, including home visiting, parent-child groups, toddler playgroups, transition-to-school activities, and other programmatic activities to support the development of strong parent-child relationships that nurture early learning and language development.
  • Communicate effectively with preschoolers and parents.
  • Recruit children ages 3 -5 years into the program.
  • Organize and conduct regular parent-child groups, in the elementary school when possible and feasible.
  • Conduct regular child developmental screening and family assessments at identified intervals.
  • Connect families to community resources and make referrals to community providers for follow up assessments, as needed.
  • Participates in training and technical assistance activities including STC-sponsored group training, technical assistance site visits, monthly audio conference calls, and web-based resource sharing and training activities.
  • Support access to early learning resources and materials.
  • Provide information and supports to program participants on local kindergarten readiness expectations, and support preschool and kindergarten transitions through individual Family Conference meetings and group meetings.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (Master's degree preferred)
  • Certification in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
  • Administrative certificate preferred

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of successful classroom teaching and/or relevant work experience in the area of early childhood.
  • Experience working with students and families in urban communities is a plus
  • Experience developing and delivering professional development desired.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education issues, changes in the federal and state law as well as case law, and educational research based instructional practices, especially in the areas of literacy, math, and behavior.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and act within the district and program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality in handling district information.
