Moma is Hiring a Summer 2024 Internship - Learning and Engagement, Public Engagement Near New York, NY

About the Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students and beginning professionals with practical experience in a specific area of museum work at The Museum of Modern Art. Each Tuesday, interns participate in professional development activities designed to increase understanding of the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and departments. The Museum hosts approximately 25 interns per season in just about every department. Participants may arrange for academic credit through their school, but it is not a requirement.

MoMA Summer 2024 internships require a commitment of four days per week. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. One must have a minimum of two years of college completed (or equivalent) by June 2024 in order to apply.

All summer applications are due on Wednesday, April 10 by 11:59 PM EST.

Department Projects & Tasks

Interns will be working directly with professional staff, interns will assist with the following public programs: Drop-in Drawing, Writing Club, Exhibition-related discursive programs. Opportunity to assist in additional public programs, to be determined based on intern interest and availability.

Department Requirements

Second language preferred, but not required. Attitude that reflects a desire for learning and collaborating with a team, general interest in learning and education in the informal learning environment, the field of arts, variety of backgrounds and research interests are welcome. Clear written and spoken communication, ability to engage comfortably with a variety of publics. General comfort with Google platforms. Flexibility in schedule required for select Fridays, evenings, and weekends (total hours will not exceed 28 hours/week).
