The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a permanent Sales Associate in the Soho Design Store. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Sales Associate is expected to deliver a knowledgeable, thoughtful and inspiring customer service experience which plays an integral role in achieving the stores sales and metric goals. Additionally, the Sales Associate is expected to uphold the MoMA standards, policies and procedures as well as proactively connects to the Museum to support a holistic visitor experience. Creates a highly positive experience for customers that supports the store mission and encourages repeat visitation and positive word of mouth for MoMA Design and Museum stores. Proactively engages with customers to drive conversion and sales and create a memorable customer experience. Maintains a professional and positive presence at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively engages customers on the sales floor regularly.
• Maintains a high level of Museum and product-related knowledge.
• Connects with each customer to enhance the customer experience by suggestive selling, connecting to the Museum through memberships and proactively participating in membership sales efforts as part of Museum’s membership sales goals.
• Captures email addresses at point of sale while performing transactions such as sales, returns, and gift wrap.
• Promotes acquisition and engagement with MoMA Design Store Rewards program.
• Participates in all client development initiatives, not limited to maintaining a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
• Executes daily stock maintenance by ensuring that all merchandise and fixtures are signed, displayed, lit, and clean.
• Participates in physical inventory.
• Opens and closes cash registers and is held accountable for any discrepancies noted by the management team.
• Complies with all zoning and scheduling.
• Participates in all MoMA Design Store, Museum, and vendor training.
• Performs in-store product demos on occasion to engage customers.
• Assists the store management team in periodic training programs for new staff and demonstrates particular functions during the initial shadowing period.
• Advises Assistant Manager, Operations of out-of-stock merchandise and inventory discrepancies.
• Performs any duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
• Visits the Museum regularly to keep abreast of current exhibitions and collections gallery rotations and attends at least two curator-led walkthroughs.
• Attends product, vendor, and customer service training.
• Participates in advanced education opportunities as offered.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Completes and periodically refreshes up on all MoMA Design Store Training Modules.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year in retail sales.
• Committed to delivering a high level of customer service.
• Proactive self-starter who exhibits initiative and leadership.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Interest in design, books, art, and architecture is desirable.
• Fluency in language in addition to English language is a plus.
• Proficiency with POS, Word, Excel, Google work space, Order Entry.
• Reports to: Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers as assigned
