Position Summary

The Proposal Specialist II will support the organization’s ongoing proposal development efforts and processes for developing high quality proposals.

The position will manage the RFP draft response process by completing, submitting and tracking all responses as they are due.

This position can work a hybrid schedule, but must be local to the Des Moines area.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

• Manage the RFP draft response process by completing, submitting and tracking all responses by established deadlines
• Work with sales, marketing, and operations departments to solicit, review, write, and edit responses to RFPs
• Analyze Requests for Proposals with core team to validate and verify interpretation of the requirements
• Collaborate with the sales team in the development of a strategic approach including appealing and persuasive content
• Produce written proposals and presentations utilizing standardized processes and templates
• Identify legal content and contractual language that requires review and / or approval by legal counsel
• Conduct thorough review of documents for cohesiveness of responses, content flow and organization, grammar and format specifications
• Identify innovative ways for improving efficiency of proposal process
• Possess complete knowledge of company, products and industry
• Enhance RFP and proposal response process to improve win-rate
• Develop and maintain proposal department resource library of proposal tools, documents and graphics

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
• 2-4 years proposal writing experience
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management experience
• Proficient writing, and strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a timely and professional manner
• Strong team player ability; must work well independently and take good initiative

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 2 years Training and / or Technical Writing experience
• 1 year proposal support experience
• Familiarity with repository products, as well as experience responding to online or written RFPs

Physical Requirements

• Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands and / or fingers
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
• Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
