Reporting to the Property Manager, the Lead Gardener is responsible for executing and coordinating all scheduled Garden Management work orders. The Lead Gardener also has the responsibility to motivate and lead an efficient and productive crew while overseeing all activities on the job site, in the absence of a Property Manager, while maintaining communication with the client.

Requirements:

• Be honest, respectful, self-motivated, and organized.
• Manage and motivate people.
• Demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
• Know materials, methods, and skills used in various landscapes common to the Midwest region, including mowing.
• Horticulture degree or one year experience in Garden Management or related field
• Ability to proficiently operate various machinery.
• Enforce good safety practices.
• Have a good driving record.
• Pass DOT drug screen.
• Read, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height.
• Ability to traverse over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces.

Essential Job Functions:

• Client Management and Employee Development
• Carry out seasonal work order based on contracted sale to include scheduled garden and lawn maintenance, annual container installation, holiday decorating, etc.
• Maintain Client properties including gardens, ponds, lawn, hardscapes, containers, lighting, etc.
• Keep and maintain accurate records (time, materials used, design plan, receipts, etc.)
• Provide clients with exceptional customer service at all times.
• Project work such as pruning, replacement planting, and mulching.
• Ability to read a landscape design and install small landscape projects.
• Coordinate and install palm trees.
• Maintain installed ponds; pond start-up and shut-down, fish delivery & care and water plant delivery.
• Ongoing training and supervision of Gardeners
• Communicate and manage people diverse in language, ability, educational levels, and experience.
• Mom’s Office Site Management
• Nursery care including pruning, organization, inventory, irrigation, etc.
• Upkeep of vehicles, tools, and equipment assigned to Maintenance crew

Compensation:

• $18-$24 depending on qualifications
