Molecular Testing Labs is Hiring a Quality Assurance Technician Near Vancouver, WA

Position Title: Quality Assurance Technician I, II

Effective Date: 4/1/2024

Reports To: Director of QMS

Position status: Non-Exempt Full-Time

Primary Function:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting the quality assurance (QA) system by exemplifying an emphasis on organization, monitoring, and clerical support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lab Technician I -

  • Support procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, inspection, and certification in the areas of quality control and quality assurance in accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations, CAP accreditation, FDA compliance, and/or specific state regulations.
  • Management of equipment inventory and ordering of equipment as needed when approved.
  • Work with vendors for scheduling, POs, and onsite services.
  • Manage the preparation of blind Quality Control samples.
  • Assist Continuing Education program
  • Serve as a quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Clerical management of documents pertaining to laboratory quality programs, including general document control.
  • Assist in laboratory proficiency testing programs.
  • Perform equipment quality control review and calibration.

Lab Technician II –

  • Lab Technician I duties as defined above

AND

  • Support quality systems audits.
  • Arrange data and report on Quality Indicators.
  • Facilitate the receipt, processing, sample reports, and returns of clinical study samples.
  • Assist in management of the eQMS system.
  • Cold storage management, including installation of new units, temperature monitoring, and coordination for repair and service as necessary.
  • Management of equipment inventory and ordering of equipment as needed when approved.
  • Work with vendors for scheduling, POs, and onsite services.
  • Assist and organize all Supplier Qualifications and approvals.
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Mental Abilities and Skills Requirements-

  • Communication skills both oral and written, to deal with a wide audience, whose skill bases and objectives may differ.
  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Multitask multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Ability to adapt in a constantly changing environment and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.

Knowledge Needed-

  • Knowledge of aseptic laboratory techniques and sample handling.
  • Knowledge of general data analysis, statistics, and statistical process control.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and health rules and regulations.

Education and Certification:

Education/Experience Requirements-

Lab Technician I -

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Lab Technician II -

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in process analysis, compliance, aseptic techniques, and QA systems.

Certifications-

  • N/A.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.

Work Environment:

VANCOUVER OFFICE - Most work will be performed in an office. Workweeks usually consist of 40 hours.

LAB POSITIONS - Most work will be performed in the lab. However, this position will require some traveling and working between locations. Workweeks usually consist of 40 hours.

Office Environment:

  • Several common areas and meeting rooms for collaboration.
  • Large windows which let in natural light during working hours.
  • Fully equipped break room and bathrooms.

Lab Environment:

  • Noise levels vary based on flow of business
  • Most floors are tile or concrete - individuals may stand for extended periods of time on these surfaces.

Tools and Technology:

  • Desktop computer and laptop.
  • Scanners and printers

Hazards:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, full manual dexterity and visual acuity required. However, access to the laboratory may be necessary and therefore employee may be exposed to potential physical harm from hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, dangerous tools and equipment.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination provided at no cost to employee.
