Molalla High School is actively recruiting a ToSA - Dean of Students for the 2024-2025 school year.
Anticipated Start Date: August 21, 2024
JOB GOAL: The goal of the “Dean of Students” is to use evidence-based behavior support and intervention strategies to promote, create and sustain a safe learning-centered school environment. This is accomplished by fostering a culture of high expectations for all students, building positive partnerships with families and developing and implementing positive and effective student management practices which result in improved student behaviors and attendance. Other duties and process improvements may also be assigned by the building administration.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must have at least three (3) successful years as a teacher with increasing leadership responsibilities, be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily and meet the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-000 to 584-020-0045). The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities needed for this position.
Ability to: investigate situations involving students and take preventative or corrective actions to resolve situations; use judgment in the analysis of facts and circumstances surrounding individual issues to determine and prioritize the necessary actions; communicate with appropriate student age group using both empathetic and disciplinary approaches; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers and administrators; maintain and verify completeness of records; meet schedules and deadlines; maintain confidentiality; work harmoniously with others; operate according to board and school policies and procedures.
Skills to: communicate in English proficiently and effectively both orally and in writing; use Microsoft Office, Google suite and other internet-based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, Synergy, etc.) to perform the essential functions of this position;
Knowledge of: middle school age adolescent social emotional development and best practices for behavior intervention strategies; PBIS systems and experience working with them; Individuals with Disabilities Education (IDEA) regulations and procedures; how to use data to make informed decisions; effective school-based behavior supports including both prevention and intervention strategies; cultural competence, students with disabilities and classroom management strategies that provide equity and access for all students.
