Job Summary
The Trauma Performance Improvement & Patient Safety (PIPS) Coordinator RN monitors and evaluates the care of the critically injured patient from time of injury through the continuum of care to ensure that care is safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient and equitable.
Works under the direction of the Trauma Medical Director and the Trauma Program Manager.
Core Job Responsibilities
Organizes and follows through on tasks associated with PIPS loop closure. Leads weekly working PIPS meetings with agenda circulated prior to the meetings.
Creates clinical care timelines as a component of patient care review. Facilitates and documents loop closure. Facilitates PIPS related education.
Develops quality filters, audits and case reviews. Identifies trends and sentinel events. Identifies events, collaboratively develops corrective action plans, and provides monitoring and reevaluation.
Conducts primary reviews of cases and participates in subsequent levels of review. Leads trauma manual guideline review, revisions, and subsequent levels of review.
Introduces new protocols and procedures. Assists work groups with content support.
Education / Experience Requirements
REQUIRED :
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
PREFERRED :
Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Licensure / Certification Requirements
REQUIRED :
Registered Nurse license in New York State.
PREFERRED :
TNCC / ATCN certification.
