Salary: $71,899

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Director of Special Projects in our Learning and Academic Affairs department. The Director of Special Projects plays a critical role in overseeing and managing special projects to advance the College’s mission. They will be responsible for planning, implementing, and executing a wide range of initiatives that align with our strategic goals and objectives. This is a leadership position that requires exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving successful project outcomes and possess the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develops and leads special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Learning and Academic Affairs (VPLAA);
  • Plans and executes projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and meeting quality standards;
  • Writes and edits project documents, narratives, proposals, grants, etc.;
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to enhance academic programming and define project scope, deliverables, and milestones;
  • Identifies project goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) in collaboration with stakeholders;
  • Monitors and tracks project progress, providing regular updates to VPLAA and all stakeholders;
  • Manages project budgets, resources, and timelines, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project outcomes;
  • Develops and implements project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to improve project efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Implements project evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact and effectiveness of special projects;
  • Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with key stakeholders to enhance project success and sustainability;
  • May supervise staff;
  • Other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Two (2) years proven experience managing and/or directing projects


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Grant and/or proposal writing experience
  • Supervisory experience
