Mohave Mental Health Clinic is Hiring an ACT Team Behavioral Health Technician Near Kingman, AZ

LINES OF AUTHORITY: This position is supervised by the SMIClinical Site Supervisor and/or Clinical Director. This position does not supervise anypersonnel; however, the position requires participation in peer reviewactivities.

POSITION SUMMARY: The BHT may provide multiple services toclients and families, including, but not limited to Adult and Family Team developmentand facilitation, Case Management, Life Skills Training, Family Support, HealthEducation and Counseling. The position requires a high level of flexibility inserving high-needs clients in both office and community settings. This position will be expected to maintain anacceptable level of service provision as measured by billable hours/servicevalue. If providing counseling services,the BHT will do so under the direct clinical oversight of a Behavioral HealthProfessional.

PRINCIPALDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The primary responsibility of the managingclinician is to provide clinical expertise and oversight of the person's care,ensure clinical soundness of the assessment/treatment process, and serves asthe point of contact, coordinating and communicating with ACT team members and other systems whereclinical knowledge of the care is important. 
  2. Assesses clients through ongoing processes such asthe strengths-based assessment, co-occurring/substance use assessments, riskassessments and annual assessments to monitor the progress of the client andfamily towards their goals.
  3. Engages with the client, family and other involvedparties through face-to-face and phone interactions and works with the clientand family to build trust, encourage hope, and ensure ongoing engagement inbehavioral health services.
  4. Assist the client and family in development ofAdult Treatment Team and works positively as a member of the treatment team.When necessary, coordinates care as evidenced by progress notes, BehavioralHealth Service Plan Review of Progress (BHSP-ROP) and the distribution ofinformation. May provide direct servicesto a client or family several hours a week. 
  5. Completes additional and ongoing assessments asneeded to assess needs/monitor progress of the client and family as evidencedby record review, supervision and observation.
  6. Assists the client/family in creating and utilizingsafety/crisis plans as evidenced by the written safety/crisis plan in therecord. Triage and stabilize emergency situations with clients and families as determinedby clinical need and evidenced by completion and review of the clinicalrecord.
  7. Participates in the development and monitoring of BehavioralHealth Service Plans (BHSP's), as evidenced by the service plan and serviceplan updates.
  8. Participates in coordination of care activities andregular staffings with ACT team staff to prioritize and organize care for theACT clients.
  9. Assists client/families in finding necessaryresources other than covered services to meet basic needs.
  10. Communicates and coordinates client care withfamily members, other ACT team members, medical health providers and communityresources as evidenced by documentation, release of information and externalreports.
  11. Demonstrates responsiveness and flexibility inidentifying and providing services to ACT team clients, as evidenced by recordreview and direct observation.
  12. Manages caseload and completes requireddocumentation in compliance with agency standards as evidenced by recordreviews/audits, supervision, and review of internal reports.
  13. Provides case management and other CoveredBehavioral Health services, in accordance with the BHSP, meeting the agency'sdirect service provision standard of 1248 hours per year, as evidenced byclinical record review and direct service provision reports.
  14. Provides customer service to internal and externalstakeholders.
  15. Participates in the Performance Improvementprocesses in the Clinic.
  16. This employee must work well under pressure meetingmultiple and sometimes multiples and sometimes conflicting deadlines. The employee shall at all times demonstratecooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.
  18. Able to effectively de-escalate clients usingtechniques as trained and outlined in approved crisis intervention models.

PRIMARY CONTACTS:

  • Frequentinteraction with clients and their family /support.
  • Interfaceswith peers, clinical team members and supervisors, and internal /external customersand stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with communityresources/referral agencies.

POSITION REQUISITES:

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor'sdegree in Social Services, Psychology, Applied Psychology, Social Work or otherbehavioral health related field
  • Associate'sdegree in a behavioral health related field with one year of full-time workexperience providing behavioral health services 
  • HighSchool Diploma or GED and three years' experience providing behavioral healthservices to adult mental health, seriously mentally ill, substance use orchildren.
  • ValidAZ driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Arizonafingerprint clearance
  • Atleast 21 yrs. of age
  • CurrentCPR and First Aid certification

Preferred:

  • Experience working with clients withcomplex emotional and functional needs
  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral HealthField with at least one year behavioral health experience
  • Knowledge of community resourcesavailable, including benefits and entitlement process, as well as anunderstanding of managed care.
  • Understanding of client/family-centeredand ACT models of care

SUBSTANCE USE

Staff responsible for providing services to substance using membershave appropriate training, education, and experience, and demonstratecompetency.

Staff must be able to gather and assess information about:

  • Therelationship of each member's physical status to the substance use.
  • Thenature of the emotional compulsion to use alcohol and/or other drugs.
  • The intensity of the member'spreoccupation with using alcohol/and/or other drugs.

Staff must also demonstrate competency in their abilityto:

  • Interpret information about a member's useof alcohol and/or other drugs.
  • Develop awritten summary and/or treatment plan based on member's problems and needs;
  • Provideappropriate services.

CHILDRENAND ADOLESCENTS

Staff responsible forproviding services to child and adolescent members have appropriate training,education, and experience, and demonstrate competency.

  • Staffdemonstrated knowledge of growth and development of children and adolescents.
  • Staffdemonstrates their ability to develop treatment plans and services based onmember's problem and needs.
  • Staff demonstrates knowledge and skill inworking with family systems.

SERIOUSLY MENTALLY ILL

Staff responsible forproviding services to seriously mentally ill members have appropriate training,education, and experience, and demonstrate competency.

  • Staff hasknowledge and ability to gather and interpret information about seriouslymentally ill people.
  • Staff understands the member's needs andthe range, intensity, and duration of care, habilitation and rehabilitationrequired.

INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED

Staff responsible for providing services to members withintellectual disabilities have appropriate training, education, and experience,and demonstrate competency.

  • Staff hasknowledge and ability to gather and interpret information about a member withan intellectual disability.
  • Staff understands the member's needs andthe range, intensity, and duration of care, habilitation or rehabilitationrequired.
