Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office is Hiring a Forensic Investigator Near Kingman, AZ

Conduct investigations to determine circumstances, manner and cause of death, and identity of decedents coming under the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office’s (MCMEO) jurisdiction. This position is for Investigator in the Kingman area. Incumbents must live in the Kingman area for this position. Initially under close supervision, incumbents with a basic background in investigative or forensic work perform the more standard duties while learning County and departmental policies and procedures. As experience is gained, duties become more diversified and are performed under more general supervision. Starting pay is $40,000 a year, pay depends on experience.

Employment Requirements:

  • Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Arizona Class D Driver's License at time of appointment and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigation (ABMDI) certification is preferred but not required.
  • Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
  • Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination and may be conducted periodically throughout employment.

Working Conditions:

Incumbents deal with death, dead bodies and decomposed remains. Incumbents may traverse rough terrain (land or water) in extreme weather (including heat) to reach the scene of death and work irregular shifts, including 24-hours shifts, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbents may work around potentially harmful chemicals and/or biological agents.
