Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer with 0 to 5 years’ experience to join either our Long Beach, Costa Mesa, or Ontario, CA office(s) working on transportation projects for clients including DOT, Toll Agencies, Counties and private clients. The right candidate will be a member of an integrated design team, and will be responsible for developing project designs, plans, quantities, cost estimates and specifications while working directly under licensed Engineers.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
• Communicate effectively with those contacted in performing duties.
• Learn and apply established principles and practices of civil engineering.
• Learn to read and understand roadway design plans
• Learn to read and apply agency design criteria to plan production 
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties and to work as a team.
• Design and preparation of documents for:
  1. Minor and major roadway
  2. Sidewalks
  3. Shoulder improvements
  4. Drainage design projects
• Duties include assisting a project manager with tasks associated with:
  1. Plan preparation
  2. Cost estimates
  3. Report writing
  4. Client coordination
  5. Permitting

Software design experience should include:

• Working with Microstation and Autocad
• Civil 3D
• MS Word and Excel

Qualifications

Requirements:

• A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering 
• Experience working with State and local transportation projects is a Plus
• Strong communication skills 
• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base Salary Range

$68,700 to $90,700 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in California.
