Position Summary: 

The position’s primary purpose and focus

Modern Manufacturing is looking for a Shipping & Receiving Operator, for its manufacturing facility located in Eudora, KS.

The Shipper/Receiver reports to the Director of Supply Chain. They work closely with the Supply Chain buyers, kitting clerk and the manufacturing floor to ensure they have the supplies, tools and parts necessary to perform their jobs. This position is responsible for booking and securing trucks for shipping finished product and various items to customers and Vendors and is also responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of receiving parts, supplies, materials, and stock and re-route them to the proper locations. They work with all departments to achieve internal and external customer delivery dates.

Position, Duties & Primary Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities of the position

• Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents
• Pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions
• Oversees loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances
• Inspect and verify incoming goods against packing slips or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
• Route goods to appropriate storage areas
• Operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
• Organizing and maintaining the yard
• Responsible for scrap and garbage pick up
• Follows and maintains knowledge of all Safety and Health standards
• Work/tasks will be assigned through the employee’s manager/immediate supervisor or by senior leadership.

Education, Training & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• 1 years of related work experience, preferred
• Forklift operator certification
• Front end loaders experience an asset.
• Proficient English written and verbal communication skills and be able to read and understand work orders

Working Conditions:

• This position requires walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds
• Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs
• Bending, reaching, kneeling, stretching, and working overhead
• Handling, feeling, and gripping
• Repetitive work
• Fast paced environment
• Exposure to potential hazards, therefore, protective clothing and equipment required such as steel-toed safety boots and a welding helmet
