Mod Pac is Hiring a Manufacturing and Electrical Equipment Technician Near Buffalo, NY

Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment,
or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; boiler making; insulating; welding; machining;
carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing
buildings, floors, or stairs. In addition, this position has responsibility for the installation, maintenance, and repair of
electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures; ensuring that work is in accordance with relevant codes.

  • Relevant vocational training,
  • Current electrician’s license preferred
  • Or an equivalent amount of education and experience
  • Functional knowledge of flash arc protection equipment
  • Ability to properly and safely operate conduit benders and other position-specific equipment
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow schematics
  • Capability to program drives and PLC’s
  • Functional knowledge of electrical codes
  • Ability to safely and properly operate tools and equipment necessary for the position
  • Be able to work overtime as required

Maintenance:

  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building
    systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions,
    following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches,
    to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing,
    machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals,
    and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic
    diagrams.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and
    straightedges.
  • Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building
    structures.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Align and balance new equipment after installation.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers,
    and other measuring instruments.

  • Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery found in cafeterias, laundries, hospitals, stores,
    offices, or factories.

  • Lay brick to repair and maintain buildings, walls, arches and other structures.
  • Grind and reseat valves, using valve-grinding machines.

Electrical:

  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local
    codes
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing
    devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for
    adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building
    and safety codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to
    locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull
    insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or
    fixtures.
  • Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Perform trouble shooting on drives and PLC’s when needed.
  • Install 480V and 110V circuit breaker installation on a quarterly basis
