MMT is Hiring a Quality Control Inspector Near Laguna Niguel, CA

At MMT - Laguna, our objective is to develop excellence in automation, machine tool design, material handling, and custom tooling. Each position contributes to the success of the company through accountability, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented mindset. This position is responsible for the inspection and testing of manufacturing processes and products to ensure product quality. In support of the production and supply chain team, the Quality Assurance Inspector will work with a variety of inspection and test equipment and document inspection procedures to ensure and maintain product quality and records traceability. The quality assurance Inspector will also assist in appropriately identifying nonconforming products and remove nonconformance's from the production flow until the product can be dispositioned. Cross-functional collaboration with the engineering, production, and supply chain teams is required..JOB DUTIESOverview
  • Programming and operation of SmartScope for in-house and supplier manufactured products
  • Experience in quality assurance / quality control role in precision manufacturing environment or equivalent
  • Knowledge of quality lab inspection equipment such as optical comparator, micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, bore gages, pin gages, etc.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Basic shop math
  • Ability to follow verbal work instructions and adhere to written procedures
Essential Job Functions:
  • Final QA for all equipment and equipment accessories post-functional testing
  • In-process, final, and incoming inspection for manufactured parts and purchased parts from outside machine shops
  • Effective communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with team members from different departments
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload based on product due dates
  • Experience in precision manufacturing setting
  • Material transactions within Epicor ERP System

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES
  • Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions
  • Regularly lift 30-50 pounds
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to inspect machined parts quickly and accurately
  • Must be willing to work on their feet for much of the shift
  • Follow company procedures and directives.
WORKING CONDITIONSWork is carried out indoors, in the quality control work area. Occasional work in the production area may be needed from time to time. Bright lights throughout the day and the high necessity for a clean work area in order to meet product specifications is required.QUALIFICATIONS
  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years' experience with inspecting precision manufactured parts and quality procedures
  • Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of milling, turning, grinding, EDM, and precision manufacturing processes
  • Comfortable inspecting parts with tolerancing within /- 0.001”
