mmsd is Hiring a Lead Recreation Inclusion Staff - Summer 2024 Near MADISON, WI

MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50 fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.

We love our staff! All MSCR Recreation Inclusion Staff receive specific Professional Development training geared to working with people with disabilities. We provide ongoing coaching to help grow your skills and offer opportunities to advance. Gain the skills and experience needed to become a Lead Assistant Director for Inclusion Services or a Field Supervisor! We serve locations all over the city and try our best to match staff with their location preference. 

Job Description & Duties: 

Assist with the inclusion of youth with disabilities in inclusive summer programs and recreational activities, provide reasonable accommodations, and collaborate with program staff to ensure active participation of all participants. Lead inclusion staff work in collaboration with program leaders and camp leadership to provide an inclusive camp experience.
In addition to the above duties, Lead Recreation Inclusion Staff are expected to support the site in one or both of the following ways.
The Lead Recreation Inclusion Staff takes on more responsibility due to a camper’s higher support needs.
The Lead Recreation Inclusion Staff provides onsite staff coaching and capacity building for camp staff in regards to participants’ accommodation needs.

Start Date: 6/6/2024

Program Dates:

Estimated start date: Mandatory paid training June 6, June 10-14, 2024 with programs beginning June 17, 2024.
Estimated end date: Varies between July 26, 2024 - August 16, 2024. Most programs end August 9th, 2024.
No programs on July 4-5.

Work Location:

Inclusion Services places staff in programs across the city of Madison in summer camps and summer afterschool programs dependent on participant needs.

Hours/week:

Total hours of work per week: 40, some part-time positions available, please inquire.

Work hours:

Monday-Friday: between 7:30 am – 5:30 pm depending on site.
