Position Title: Head Boys’ Basketball Coach

Department: East High School Athletics Department

Reports to: East High School Athletic Director

Purpose of Position: Seeking a high quality and engaging Head Basketball Coach to create and provide leadership in building a high-performing basketball program. Candidates must be able to positively motivate student-athletes to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork. Successful candidates will possess a passion to work with/educate student-athletes, have a sincere interest in young people, and demonstrate a willingness to become an active contributor to the school culture, as well as be willing to work to establish a youth program to partner with the high school program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise the boys basketball program coaching staff including Assistant Coaches.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee training of student-athletes in all positions in conjunction with other coaches.

• Develop training plans for student-athletes in conjunction with the other coaches.

• Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games as directed by the Athletic Director.

• Direct game line-up planning for other coaches.

• Attend and coach at all practices.

• Attend and coach at all games.

• Monitor team members’ school and practice attendance, game participation, and academic performance (grades)

• Establish and enforce team policies.

• Provide student-athletes with feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and team skills.

• Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the boys basketball program

• Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director.

• Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the basketball program

• Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam for basketball by the 2024-25 winter sports season.
