Nature of Work

Assists the project superintendent with the assigned scope of responsibility; monitors and coordinates subcontractor work and, when appropriate, self-perform activities.

• This position may involve travel with initial project placement of Tampa, FL and/or Baton Rouge, LA.
• Additional incentive compensation available to traveling candidates!

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

• Conducts workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance
• Coordinates and communicates with vendors, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion
• Assists in supervising various self-perform features of work
• Tracks jobsite labor production for self-perform work and report findings to Project Manager and/or Superintendent 
• Studies plans and specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
• Creates project management documentation that may include schedules, progress charts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, jobsite controls, tracking reports, daily reports, etc.
• May have informal supervisory responsibilities through the training, coaching, or mentoring of other Project Engineers 
• Exercises initiative or, as directed, performs additional duties to meet the needs of the organization

In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will be responsible for the following:

• Advises senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.; assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required
• As directed, coordinates work among various subcontractors to achieve a smooth project completion
• Actively reviews the work performance to assure good quality control and make certain work conforms with plans and specifications

• Ability to collaborate with and function well within a team-oriented environment
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to learn new computer programs for project management / reporting purposes

SupervisoryResponsibilities

• May have supervisory responsibilities over skilled trades and/or Project Engineers

Education

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college, university, or equivalent experience

Experience

• 3 - 5 years or more of related work experience preferred

Physical Demands
Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or carrying of items (25-50 pounds) such as plan documents, papers, books, parts, etc. There may be times of physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing or similar activities. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
