MMC #1 is Hiring an OB Technician - FULL TIME- Rotating Near MEADVILLE, PA

SUMMARY

Assists the Registered Nurse in providing and coordinating direct and indirect care in the NLU and Pediatric Units based on standards of care and policies and procedures..

JOB DUTIES

Assists nursing staff with patient care throughout the New Life Unit.

Provides assistance to nursing/medical personnel in direct patient treatment.

Ability to assist with operative procedures following AORN and MMC guidelines for cesarean sections, circumcisions and other procedures as required.

Performs technical skills specific to the NLU.

Provide treatment and to maintain patient comfort and safety.

Accuracy of M&S Supplies, procedures, and pharmacy charges.

Assists in the admission and discharge process, including certified car seat inspection.

Performs ongoing audit of supplies in the department. Stocks units: nsy, cribs, C/room, PEDS, LDRP rooms accurately. Monitors expiration dates of all supplies.

Flexibly responds to changing needs of unit, willingly floats to other units, adjusts work schedule to meet the unit’s needs.

Participates in interdisciplinary teams that evaluate clinical practice or health services.

Reports pertinent observation, changes, and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (physician, charge nurse, supervise or, etc.).

Transports patients.

Performs clerical/receptionist duties for the department.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

High School Graduate or equivalent.

Must maintain current state certification as a nursing assistant.

Previous scrub experience preferred and or a graduate of an accredited surgical technician program. Provide instruction and explanation to staff, patient and/or significant other.

Communicates with other members of health team in a calm professional manner.

Has experience with computers.

Ability to concentrate and prioritize, plan and perform professional care to resolve patient care problems and interact with patients, families, staff and other team members.

Able to share with nursing team plans necessary to develop and implement a plan of care for the patient’s well-being.

Current BLS required.
