SUMMARY
Processes and balances all checks, cash, automatic debits and credit cards paid against accounts receivable.
JOB DUTIES
Processes and balances all checks, cash, automatic debits and credit cards paid against accounts receivable.
Issue receipts or change due to customers.
Counts money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
Balances cash drawer and receipts.
Documents discrepancies.
Greet customers entering establishments.
Resolves customer complaints and assist with customer questions.
Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
Performs other duties as required to support Patient Financial Services.
SPECIFIC JOB DEMANDS
Strength: Sedentary Work - Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 10 Lbs. occasionally. Mostly sitting, may involve standing or walking for brief periods of time.
Reaching: Occasionally - Extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
Handling: Occasionally - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.
Fingering: Occasionally - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Talking: Frequently - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing: Frequently - Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.
Near Acuity: Frequently - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
High school graduate.
Additional business and medical training preferred.
Must be able to type 40 words per and be efficient with data entry equipment.
Must have the ability to apply appropriate rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Knowledge of computers a necessity. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must possess the ability to prioritize activities, organize work and problem solve.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Primarily in an office setting. May be required to be in various hospital departments. Occasional exposure to angry/hostile customers. Must be available to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. May need to work under stressful situations with frequent interruptions.
