MKD Electric is seeking an experienced Associate Controls Engineer. As part of this role… 

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Associate Controls Engineer to join our team and contribute to the growth of our engineering department. As an Associate Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for various industrial processes, machinery, and BAS systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and efficiency for our clients. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, gaining valuable experience in the field of industrial controls and automation engineering. 

What you will do…

Control System Design and Implementation:
• Develop and design control systems based on project requirements and specifications.
• Assist in providing the programming and configuration of PLC’s, DCS, HMI, and other control devices to ensure optimal system performance.

Project Management:
• Manage control system projects from conception to completion and within-budget execution.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate control systems seamlessly within the overall project scope.

Documentation and Reporting:
• Create detailed technical documentation, including schematics, diagrams, manuals, specifications and BOM’s.
• Provide regular progress reports and updates on projects to management stakeholders.
• Attend weekly project meetings.

Assist in the design and development of electrical and building control systems.

Assist in preparing technical specifications, reports and documentation related to electrical and control systems.

Participate in the design and implementation of electrical and control systems. 
Collaborate with senior engineers to analyze SCCS and test reports.
Support in conducting SCCS studies, documentation review and distribution protection settings.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

• Work with senior engineers to ensure all control systems meet industry standards, safety regulations and compliance requirements.

What you will need to succeed…

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program. EIT preferred.
• 1 - 3 years in electrical/controls design, planning and construction services Knowledge of electrical/controls engineering principles, concepts, and some design knowledge/experience in power systems studies. 
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus/TCP, Ethernet/IP) 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment. 
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment. 
• Basic knowledge of electrical and instrumentation standards and practices. 
• Basic knowledge and understanding of BAS systems and network topology.
